A Real Gold Rush Town
At the turn of the century, gold fever put Atlin on the map. Tucked away in the far northwestern corner of British Columbia on BC’s largest natural lake, Atlin remains a hidden gem: peaceful, isolated, and untouched by the outside world.
From 1897-1899, more than 100,000 people came to the Klondike in search of gold. Unemployment in the US was at 48% and the President had declared that the frontier days were over. In the world at large, the Klondike became this magical mysterious place way beyond the edge of nowhere. It offered excitement, chaos, drama and romance. At Gold Rush Heli Skiing we guarantee three of these!
Atlin has a population of 475 people, a mere fraction of its heyday, but the frontier spirit has never disappeared. It’s survived and endured but the treasures here are different and the quest for adventure is still running through its veins. People in the north care about each other immensely and that is the real gold you’ll find…
Whitehorse, which was once a 2 month journey from Seattle, can be easily accessed by convenient and reliable commercial jet service from Vancouver, Calgary and even Juneau.
